Welcome at FauxPack

Please, read first

This is not an actual company, but just a guy who enjoys making reproduction packaging.

Offered here for sale are reproductions of US Army field ration kits and other packaging. Hence the name Faux (fake) Packaging Company in the logo.

Not only do these kits contain all the cartons and wrappers to make your own ration sets for re-enactment use, but the compositions are well researched and are correct for the type and period of the ration kit. They are of good quality and affordable too.

Note that there are no buy and pay buttons. With some ration kits (especially the 10-in-1 Ration kits) there are many options and it is better to ask some advise first before you might order the wrong items.

Order through the contact form the kits you're interested in. This way I can calculate the best shipping option.

Make sure that you're shipping address is correct and current.

I ship from the Netherlands and, sadly, shipping rates have gone up recent years. Keep that in mind when ordering just a few items. Shipping is always with tracking.

Order in time because not only do I need time to prepare everything for shipping (and shipping itself takes time) but you too will need plenty of time to construct and assemble the ration kits!

Read the descriptions carefully with each ration kit to learn about some details and for what period they are accurate.

When ordering, be clear of what you need and the amount of kits. If you have questions, please ask. I'm more than happy to help.

The ration kits I offer are not assembled and do not contain any foodstuff, cigarettes or matches. These are to put together and filled with food by yourself.

All the boxes, packaging and wrappers are shipped flat. Dry-fit everything first before you start gluing. Go to the assembly tips page for some advice on how to make your ration kits.

I don’t use the term "museum quality" because that is overrated. However, I do think that the quality of my reproductions is good enough to use them for educational display purposes. And in the re-enactment field, of course!

But I'll let you be the judge of that.

About me

I’m a longtime collector of WW2 US uniforms and equipment. Being part of a small re-enactment group, we did some small private events in Normandy, Vosges mountains and Southern France. Back in the day we had to organise our own food and the best way to do this was to recreate our own K Rations and even a few 10-in-1 Rations!

I had printed K Ration outer and inner cartons on kraft board and photocopied some of the wrappers for the components. One of the other members even made a few 10-in-1 Rations by hand, which was an impressive feat on itself.

This was all over 20 years ago and with the information available we had to improvise. And, I gotta say, we didn’t do a bad job!

A few years ago I wanted to pick up the ration project again and print some more K ration boxes. But this time I decided to do some research first. The vast amount of information I gathered resulted in the kration.info website.

This time I went for complete sets with all the packaging and wrappers needed to make a full ration set. And the combination of the components would be correct for the outer carton type and its time frame.

I want to point out here that I’m just doing this as a hobby, and for my fellow re-enactors so they can enjoy period correct ration kits. You can stay in character when opening a box of K Rations during an event (and don't have to spoil the picture by munching on pizza or fries).

This means that I don’t do large orders for other vendors and I ask you not to resell my stuff.

Being a printer by profession, these reproductions are printed on a modern press and are die cut, complete with crease and/or perforation lines.
What’s more, they are based on real original ration packaging and are not "guesstimated" from pictures online. Everything is copied directly from originals that are properly measured. (The few exceptions are pointed out in the description.) No more weird fantasy items in wrong colors or dimensions.

enjoy, Harry
