K Ration kits

Note that there are no buy and pay buttons.

Order through the contact form the type and amount of ration kits you're interested in. This way I can calculate the best shipping option.

The ration kits I offer are not assembled and do not contain any foodstuff, cigarettes or matches. These are to put together and filled with food by yourself. The biscuits and cans shown in the pictures are original and are not included. All the boxes, packagings and wrappers are shipped flat.

Dry-fit everything first before gluing. Go to the assembly tips page for advise on how to make your K Ration kit.

Discount: when buying 12 kits of the same type you only have to pay for ten! See the Solid Fiberboard box chapter for packing twelve K rations.

There are several types of K Ration kits available. Scroll down or click the links for quick navigation:

Hills Bros. Type II kit

Patten Type IIIa kit

Phillips Type IVa kit

Phillips Type IVb Deluxe kit

K Ration outer cartons kit

Some older K ration kits are still available but are gone once the stock runs out.

Hills Bros. type II kit €20

The Hills Bros. type II kit was produced from February 1943 until the introduction of the type III in June 1943. This kit is perfect for the Sicilian and early Italian campaign as well as Tarawa, Marshall Islands and beyond. Large stocks of this type was also accumulated in the depots in England for use in the invasion of Normandy.

Not shown in the photo below are the biscuits, two packages of the small rectangular type for each unit, and the cans, which should be of the gold lacquered type.

This is how you receive the ration kit. Note that the inner and outer boxes are printed on sturdy brown cardboard and that the outer cartons are cut with a new die and are now of the correct shape for this particular style.

The confections in this kit are of the "short" type (introduced in March 1943). If you prefer the "long" confections as shown below, let me know and I'll include the long type, or a mix of both styles if desired.
It should be pointed out that the long Fruit bar carton is not correct for inclusion in the Hills Bros. kit since Hills Bros. produced their own fruit bars under their Dromedary brand name and obviously included these in their rations.

Patten type IIIa kit €20

The Patten type IIIa kit was produced from June 1943 until February 1944. This kit is perfect for D-day and beyond. This was also the type carried by the airborne troops that jumped into Holland in September 1944. The paratroopers were supplied from depots in England that still had these older rations in stock

This is how you receive your ration kit.

Phillips Type IVa kit €20

The Phillips type IVa kit is the new 'morale' version with the coloured boxes. Although fancy looking, the components are basically the same as the previous type III K Rations. This kit was produced from May until November 1944.

These rations were shipped directly from the United States to depots in France and started to show up at the frontlines early August 1944. This ration kit is also perfect for the Battle of the Bulge period.

This is how you receive your ration kit.

Phillips Type IVb Deluxe kit €25

In addition to the Phillips type IVa kit, there is a Deluxe version with additional coffee and extra sugar, cereal bar, and a candy bar. Although the boxes are still the type IVa (the same as the standard Phillips kit), the filling is of the type IVb version introduced with the new specifications of 31 October 1944. These started to show up at the frontlines early 1945 and would be perfect for the Rhine Crossing period.

This is how you receive your ration kit.

Older K Ration kit (Cracker Jack) €15

Few of the older K ration kits are still in stock and once sold they are gone.
The inner cartons are of grey cardboard that has been coated here with wood stain and wax. Note that the Cracker Jack kit have the seal end flaps instead of the usual tuck-in end flaps on the outer carton.
(Some components may differ in design from the ones pictured in the photos due to shortages.)

K Ration outer cartons kit €12

Due to a mistake on my part I have now left over a run of Patten Food Products outer cartons that have the printing controle strip on one of the flaps. This is not visible when the box is closed.

These are offered as a kit of twelve sets to fill one Solid Fiberboard box for display purpose.

Available untill sold out.
